Nursing's Edge has had a busy summer. Our team spent three weeks teaching the nursing process to experienced and student nurses from Nixon Memorial Hospital, Nixon Nursing School, and Kailahun Government Hospital in Sierra Leone — training approximately 34 nurses in all. To mark the completion of the full 10-day training, we presented 25 stethoscopes, generously donated by MDF Instruments, to the experienced nurses who completed the course.

Our work at Nixon isn't finished. This September, two experienced nurses will return to the hospital to reinforce the training with ward nurses, helping the concepts take root in daily practice. We also look forward to continuing our partnership with Nixon Nursing School in the months ahead.

From Sierra Leone, our focus shifted across the continent to Gaborone, Botswana, where Nursing's Edge was invited to Princess Marina Hospital to assess emergency department operations and hospital-wide patient flow challenges. During our two weeks there, we also hosted a Nurses' Day event, teaching several topics to the emergency nurses, before presenting our improvement recommendations to the hospital's Matron. We're eager to see which of these ideas take hold.

It's a season that reflects what Nursing's Edge is all about: hands-on teaching, lasting partnerships, and a commitment to strengthening nursing practice wherever it's needed.
